CBS New Ross: A Proud Tradition of Drama and Musical Excellence
At CBS New Ross, the biennial school musical is more than just a performance — it’s a reflection of our school’s commitment to nurturing talent, building confidence, and fostering a strong sense of community. For many years, we’ve partnered with Our Lady of Lourdes Secondary School to stage joint productions that have become a highlight of the school year and a much-loved tradition in both schools.
CBS has long been recognised for its strong musical heritage, with generations of students taking part in productions that have showcased their creativity, discipline, and teamwork. These musicals are a cornerstone of our co-curricular programme, offering students a chance to grow outside the classroom while still upholding the academic standards we value.
The collaboration between the two schools has produced countless memorable shows performed on stage in St. Michaels Theatre.CBS students have consistently played leading roles both on stage and behind the scenes. Many of our past pupils have gone on to perform with local musical societies and even further afield, a testament to the solid foundation they received here.
What makes these productions truly special is the support they receive from the wider community in New Ross. Parents, staff, and local volunteers all contribute to their success. The enthusiasm from audiences year after year speaks volumes about the pride people feel in seeing young local talent shine.
Taking part in the school musical at CBS New Ross is about much more than performing. It’s an experience that helps students grow in confidence, develop public speaking skills, and learn the importance of organisation and commitment. Students from all years are encouraged and welcome to take part. Whether on stage, behind the scenes, or helping with production, every student involved plays a vital role and gains valuable life skills that support their academic and personal development.
