Our Student Council provides a vital platform for student voice and democratic participation within our school community.
With two representatives elected by their peers from each year group, the council ensures that every student has a voice in shaping their educational experience. Meeting weekly with the Head of School in attendance, the Student Council addresses student concerns and initiatives, while the Chairperson meets regularly with the Principal to escalate important issues and proposals raised by year representatives. This democratic structure embodies the Edmund Rice Trust Charter's key elements of justice, advocacy, and empowerment, fostering leadership skills and encouraging students to become agents of positive change within their community.
Beyond addressing student concerns, the council takes an active role in organizing meaningful fundraising activities, such as our annual Trick or Treat campaign for Temple Street Children's Hospital, demonstrating the Edmund Rice values of compassion and service to others, particularly the most vulnerable.
The council also coordinates important school-wide initiatives like Wellbeing Week, promoting mental health awareness and creating supportive environments that reflect the Charter's commitment to nurturing the whole person. Through these activities, our Student Council not only develops responsible citizenship and leadership skills but also ensures our school remains a place where every student's voice is heard and valued.
